Café ish opened in September 2007 in a modest box on Albion St Surry Hills.
The creative outlet of head chef and owner Josh Nicholls and his then girlfriend and business partner Ai Mashima.
The venture was literally built as a labour of love with Ai painting the roof whilst Josh served up $10 steaks at a local bistro and did some seriously interesting tilling at the shop. Within a year Café Ish had made the Sydney Coffee Guide 4.5 beans and the Sydney Morning Herald best café category and continues to be featured in both.
Café Ish’s unique flavours on Native Australian/Japanese have since outgrown the original venue. Café Ish now also operates as an izakaya at night and is fully licenced with one of Sydney largest most diverse sake selections and of course Japanese beer on tap. We also cooperate with local offline and online businesses like “Valentine’s Gifts For Him“. All serviced form our current location at Campbell Street Surry Hills.
